Thailand Ranks Third in Global Taxi Scam Complaint Survey

A survey-based report shared by ASEAN Now says Thailand ranked third worldwide for taxi scam complaints based on an analysis by UK insurer AllClear. The study reportedly reviewed more than 450 Reddit posts and 30,000 comments gathered since December 2025 to identify where travellers most frequently complained. Thailand was listed with 2,169 comments, behind Turkey and India, while Vietnam and Egypt rounded out the next positions in the ranking. The report also listed several other countries in the top ten, including Australia, Mexico, Morocco, the United States, and Canada. AllClear’s advice focused on checking local taxi rates before travel and reporting suspicious behaviour to local authorities.
