Five policemen transferred for ignoring gambling

BANGKOK: -- Five Bang Sao Thong police officers were on Thursday transferred to work at Metropolitan Police headquarters for 30 days, after a crime suppression police team arrested 34 gamblers at a Soi Yuyen den in Bangkok's Thawee Watthana district.

City police chief LtGeneral Adisorn Nonsee said the five were Colonel Suwat Pasikul, Lt-Colonel Panupan Panumas, Lt-Colonel Somkid Prasobsap, Lt-Colonel Surachet Thongkhunna and Lt-Colonel Pornchai Kwanpracha.

They had to take responsibility for allowing a gambling den of 60-year-old Prayoon "Jae Fai" Kaewkraiworawit in their jurisdiction, he said. A crime suppression police team led by Colonel Warayuth Sukhawat busted the den on Wednesday. A committee will investigate the case within 15 days to see if any of them deliberately ignored the den or were involved with it.

Adisorn also told a meeting of senior policemen yesterday to crackdown on vices in their jurisdiction and, if the outside units made arrests in their jurisdiction, the local police supervisors would face punishment like this case.

Time to dust off those hello kitty armbands. :o

Did they get transferred to the Ministry of Gambling Ignoring?

Time to dust off those hello kitty armbands.

:o:D:D

Personally I think the policemen concerned did well to just ignore the gambling and not take a bribe. Surely this is a step in the right direction from the glorious boys in brown.

I would be willing to state my reputation on the fact that they did take a bribe.

(I know some of you will be tempted, but don't do it...)

Yup, they'll have to learn at one point that short of a dismissal, they're only moving their own criminals elsewhere, and that there's no shortage of them.

they will transfer them and then they will teach the new guys how its done.....

sounds like somebody wanted a cut of the action

My wife plays cards with policemen when we visit family in Pakphanang in Nakhon Sri Thammerat. Admittedly just the low ranking guys. However when she lived in Bangkok, the local mafia lady was the mia noi of the police boss in the area. She actually used his policemen to collect outstanding debts.

Where I live, the police never ignore gambling--they always join in!

and they always win..........

Pathetic, innit?
