Visa Exemption extension: still highly controlled? March 2026

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I am checking if it is still not possible to do an EV extension at Laksi specifically for people who used that service multiple times in the past.

My last EV extension was done last December, by a visa agency. I'd love to do it by myself this time if possible.

Anyone having info or personal experience lately, I would appreciate if you would share the outcome.

Did you enter Thailand by air?

Yes, I did

Entering by air, and with your last extension issued last year, you should be able to apply and get 30 days.

So you obtained extension Dec.

Means in Thailand for 3 months.

Now asking about extension to current 60 day visa exempt stay.

So how long were you out of Thailand.

Seems you are trying for ~ 6 months back to back

The calendar year won't reset for the extension.

Don't like your chances.

I would tend to agree with you. I'll still try and report how it went

You are definitely right. I'll probably just end up overpaying for the extension through the agent.

What is "EV?"

E-visa? Then you wouldn't go to Laksi. If you applied for and paid for a visa, you would get your extension at Chaeng Watthana.

Laksi is only for people who entered Visa Exempt, without any visa at all.

You're not clear in your post, so make sure you don't go to the wrong office.

Yes.

By EV he means Exempt entry perhaps thinking he has a visa.

No he did not enter with a visa.

He has entered twice and would seem using two visa exempt entries.

Hence extension at LakSi

7 days stamp only on your 2nd consecutive exempt entry and extension.

Nothing in the guidelines that went out said the 2nd one has to be consecutive. It said 2nd extension in a year.

The OP is asking about 30 day extension.

The two per calendar year in the past referred to land/sea visa exempt entries.

In any event the OP will find out if he can obtain the extension when he applies.

The main one here, TVC is charging 7k.

My usual one at friendly Thai visa is charging 5.5k

Both includes the 1,900 baht fees of course

Will go the agent route on Monday

My apologies, I meant Visa Exempt

Just to report that everything went well. The immigration staff were aware of my visit and took care of my extension discreetly and quickly, as expected.

The immigration at It Square was really quiet for a Monday morning, 30% farangs that looked like real tourists and 70% of people from neighboring countries that seemingly were all getting 7 days extension only. To confirm, rules seem to be strictly enforced.

TM30 was not required.

What did you supply for "Bangkok address"

The condo where I live. But, even if it was a hotel, I don't think TM30 would have been needed. They processed me as fast as possible and my passport was given back to me 3 minutes later

Asking for guy in another thread.

He is going to Lak Si for 30 extension.

I suggested that TM30 required.

Maybe because you used agent io let it slide

Yes, indeed. Agent said it was not necessary but I do believe if you go by yourself, it is needed.
