Trump insists killing of Iran’s leaders ‘truly is regime change’

US President Donald Trump says that the strikes against the top leadership of the Islamic Republic effectively amount to regime change, repeating a contention he first expressed upon announcing talks to end the war with Iran.

The broader Islamic Republic regime has not, in fact, fallen, but Trump is apparently trying to frame the decapitation of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and dozens of other top officials as tantamount to the collapse of the old government.

Well, this does bear a resemblance to the case in Venezuela where the lowlifes are overwhelmingly still in charge. It's true that, unlike in Venezueal, a drastically high level of ruling lowlifes have been permanently removed from the scene, but has that changed Iranian government policies?

(Bloomberg) — President Donald Trump said that Iran “gave” the US most of the 15 demands it issued to Tehran to end the war, even as it remains unclear whether either side is negotiating.

“They gave us most of the points. Why wouldn’t they?” he told reporters on Air Force One on Sunday. “We’re going to be asking for a couple of other things.” He declined to specify what concessions Iran has offered.

Publicly, Iran has rejected the US’s 15-point list of ceasefire terms delivered by the Trump administration via intermediaries in Pakistan, and has countered with five conditions of its own — including maintaining sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.

Not sure how much he cares. The aim for this 2.0 s**t show was to stay out of jail and grift as much money as possible. If he's not completely left the building mentally, he must sense (the yes-men and a** kisser notwithstanding) that the GOP are gonna get destroyed in the mid-terms, leaving him as a lame duck the last two years (if he doesn't do us all a solid, that is).

What are these "better deals"? None of his tariffs have resulted in anything positive for the US, but they have prompted other nations to build alternate trade blocks. Canada just signed up 40 nations.

The only thing his tariffs have done is raise the cost of goods in the US....that is, contributed to inflation. Now Trump has to battle two of the SC judges he appointed, because they disagreed with his claim he has the right to impose tariffs without Congressional consent.

China is just laughing at Trump, stepping back and watching as the great alliances in the West post-WWII are collapsing. China will calmly fill that void.

-Probably more people committed to harming the US, as happens when one's sons or daughter are killed by an outsider

-Gulf States production will be down even if the war ended tonight, because Iran has hit refineries and LNG gas plants

-the already ballooning US deficit needs an additional $200 billion for defense...whoops!...WAR

-US allies are pulling back, in Europe and even the Middle East. There is growing consensus that the US is not the protector it pretended to be. (Monitor the Arab media and you will hear this, though it helps if you speak Arabic)

-Iran still has all the MEU it had on 28 February

-Iran has more MEU than it had when they abided by the JCPOA, which limited them to 300kg of LEU

-Oh, and as the US deficit jumps, who are the foreigners who will continue to fund 25% of it, after Trump alienated them with tariffs and his war?

No doubt Trump and his Carnival People are working hard to make up a definition of victory, so that Trump can claim he achieved it. Of course he might waffle a few times so that those "in the know" can front run his flips and flops to benefit from market swings. It's quite easy to see who front ran his Tweet a week ago, but I guess the SEC and DoJ have other things to do. Anyway, they only made $2-4 billion in 20 minutes, which just qualifies as Trump Change.

Oil Turns Lower on Report US May End War Without Hormuz Opening.

(Bloomberg) -- Oil turned lower after the Wall Street Journal reported President Donald Trump told aides he’s willing to end the military campaign in Iran even if the crucial Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed.

Trump and his aides assessed that a mission to reopen the strait would push the conflict beyond his timeline of four to six weeks, according to the report.

Trump has regularly vacillated between saying an end to the war is near and warning he’s prepared to ramp up military operations. On Monday, he said that the US will blow up power plants, oil facilities and “possibly” desalination infrastructure if Iran doesn’t re-open Hormuz.

A fully-laden Kuwaiti oil tanker was hit by Iran in Dubai Port causing a fire and damaging the hull, according to a statement from Kuwait Petroleum Corp. Iran has targeted ships across the Persian Gulf since the war began, and previously attacked two vessels near Iraq.

The Strait of Hormuz is not essential for the US. Ergo: Let the world clean up the mess once we (the US) have declared "victory" and left the scene of the crime.
