I am looking for someone to notarize my passport on the Darkside in Pattaya. Any recommendations on who I could use and how much it is likely to cost.

ThaiEuro Law. In the Soi that runs parallel to Pattaya Tai at the back of Big C on Suk - same soi as AA Insure and a few other brokers and legal places.

They used to charge 500 but maybe 1000 now.

For what? frequently, a certification from your embassy is required.

Ome of my pension providers Reassure wanted me to send them my passport to UK to prove I was still alive which of course I wouldn't do. They said I could send a notarized copy of my passport instead.

If you have any difficulties, then I might be willing to lend you my passport for a short time.

Typically, local notarization is not accepted by overseas entities. It needs to be notarized by your consulate.

Nope, or not necessarily based on my UK experience. Had ThaiEuro Law do a few for me over the years.

In the US, anything other than an embassy notary can be challenged in court as a civil matter e.g. for estate issues or litigation.

An embassy passport notary for a company's internal requirements, if acceptable to the company, is not required.

As best I tell, same in UK.

When my missis applied for the UK State Pension we got her passport and other documents notarised by a Thai lawyer. These were accepted by the DWP.

That's good news for you. US and Australian government departments would not accept documents notarized by ThaiEuro Law. Nothing against that law firm, though; they've done a lot of good work for me in the past.

There has been a recent change in Thailand (Dec 2025) regarding the legalization of foreign documents.

"Since December 2025, the Thai Cabinet approved Thailand’s accession to the Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, commonly referred to as the Hague Apostille Convention. Once fully implemented, the Convention will fundamentally change how Thai public documents are authenticated for use abroad, and how foreign public documents are recognised in Thailand."

The only way to be sure that it will be legally recognized and valid is through your embassy. Mine cost $50.

Take it to the police they will stamp a copy then send it by post tracked the post is the most expensive that's what immigration told me to do.

Yes, from memory the charge and the certification was pretty much the same as the lawyer in Banchang that we used. All accepted in the UK without a query.

There are many online notaries. I don't know the situation in the UK but they are widly accepted in the US. I used Notarize when I had to have some documents notarized for a Florida real estate transaction, although there are many others, including some that will work with expats with a foreign address. An appointment at the US Embassy would have taken two months.

There are situations in the US where anything other than an embassy notary ex-US could create big problems.

This ain't one of them.

They charged me 700 the last time, about 2 years ago
