Vietnamese travelers are ranked as the second most enthusiastic food tourists in Asia, following Taiwanese, according to Agoda's recent findings. This highlights the significant role of culinary interests in Vietnamese travel choices, reflecting the nation's deep culinary heritage. The report noted a prominent preference for destinations like Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, and China among Vietnamese travelers seeking gastronomic experiences.

Vietnam's culinary scene, rich and varied, ranges from popular dishes like pho and banh mi to region-specific cuisines such as Hue's royal culinary offerings and the Mekong Delta's seafood. These varied gastronomic experiences underscore a balance of flavors and a commitment to fresh ingredients, painting a vibrant picture of the country's food culture. Last year, Vietnam's cuisine outperformed Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, securing the 16th position on TasteAtlas's list of 100 best cuisines globally.

In the broader Asian context, South Korean travelers are third after Vietnamese in prioritizing food during travels, based on responses from over 3,300 participants in nine Asian markets. Following them are food-focused travelers from Malaysia and Japan, with 33% and 32% respectively, rating culinary experiences highly in their travel plans. Other nations, such as Indonesia, Thailand, and India, also demonstrate a strong interest in exploring diverse cuisines.

Looking forward, Vietnamese cuisine continues to attract international attention, lauded by global chefs and featured in leading food publications. This growing recognition not only boosts Vietnam's culinary profile but also contributes positively to its tourism industry. As Vietnamese travelers increasingly indulge their culinary passions abroad, this trend may further enhance Vietnam's gastronomic exchange with the world.
