April 10Apr 10 Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni has revealed he is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer in China and will remain there for at least another month, according to a royal message broadcast on state television. The 72‑year‑old monarch said doctors confirmed the diagnosis following extensive examinations by Chinese specialists. “The medical team has requested that I remain in China and cannot return to Cambodia at the moment. They require that I stay in the hospital for further treatment and care for another one to two months,” he explained in his statement dated 10 April.Concerns about the King’s health first surfaced in February, when the Royal Palace announced he was unwell and unable to fulfil his duties. At that time, Senate President Hun Sen was asked to receive Vietnam’s Communist Party leader To Lam on the King’s behalf. No details of his illness were disclosed then. This latest announcement follows an earlier message in which King Sihamoni and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk confirmed they would remain in China for ongoing medical care. Despite receiving comprehensive treatment, doctors say his condition requires continued monitoring. In his message, the King expressed affection for the Cambodian people and extended best wishes nationwide as he and the Queen Mother remain abroad during the Khmer New Year.King Sihamoni, who ascended the throne in 2004, is widely respected for his quiet, ceremonial role and dedication to cultural affairs. His absence during one of Cambodia’s most important holidays has heightened public concern, though officials emphasise that the monarchy remains stable and that the King is receiving the best possible care.-2026-04-10 ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français ThaiVisa, it's also in French
