Total waste of money. People will go around, under and over the wall, and like the sheriff says, it's not easy to travel across the hot and dry southern border. They have to cross vast ranches, who have some armed who don't like illegals, along with having to carry water and stay out of the sun much of the time, until they get to a pickup place. They need to stay away from major roads which are used by the sheriff and border patrol. The wall slows down some, but they'll still keep coming. Catching them after they're in the US is the problem, as it's US citizens who employ them.
