Vietnam's Party General Secretary and President To Lam and a Vietnamese delegation visited Nanning, China as part of their state visit. The delegation traveled by high-speed train after concluding Beijing activities. Chinese officials supported the visit, emphasizing the significance of China's extensive railway network, which spans 165,000 km, with 54,000 km being high-speed rails.

China has advanced its rail infrastructure since initiating a network plan in 2004. This system links 99% of cities with over 200,000 residents. China plans to expand its high-quality transport network to 700,000 km by 2035, including 200,000 km of railway, which will enhance connectivity among key urban and economic hubs.

President Lam expressed admiration for China's rail achievements and emphasized strengthening bilateral transport connections. He urged Chinese firms to support Vietnam through technology transfers and participation in essential railway projects. Enhanced rail cooperation is seen as an opportunity to reduce costs, boost trade, and integrate Vietnam into the Asia-Europe rail network.
