Trump's $10 Billion Lawsuit Against IRS & Treasury

Featured Replies

Trump’s lawyers seeking resolution of his $10 billion lawsuit against IRS and Treasury

Lawyers for President Donald Trump are engaged in discussions with the IRS and the Treasury Department in an effort to resolve his $10 billion lawsuit accusing the agencies of an unauthorized leak of his tax information during his first administration.

Trump’s lawyers disclosed the conversations in a court filing Friday asking a Florida district court for a 90 day extension to allow the parties to engage in discussions and avoid a drawn-out legal process...

The lawsuit – which Trump filed personally, not in his official capacity as president – has sparked conflict of interest concerns given his oversight of the federal agencies he is suing. Further, if the case resolves with any monetary settlement, it would be Trump’s own administration paying him and his family.

This is definitely going to play well with American voters. It will in no way highlight the over-the-top greed of the current president or his non-existent sense of ethics. Maybe he'll end by settling for a symbolic dollar. That may lessen the stink but it won't make it go away.

Politicised and weaponized IRS and treasury under the Biden admin. Disgusting and I hope Trump gets $10B so it doesnt happen to anyone else in the future.

And I thought we were just reading a thread where the forum leftists were blurting over weaponized departments? Could they lack self awareness to that extent?😅

More frothing from you with the usual lack of evidence. The lowlife-in-chief waited until he was President to file the suit. So instead of facing an adversary, he found himself a victim. You really think that this potential $10 billion raid on the Treasury is going to play well with the public?

Anything that happens when Republicans do it is bad.

Setting "anything" aside, what about the thing in question?

The January 29 complaint comes in the wake of the criminal conviction of former IRS contractor Charles Littlejohn, who is serving a five-year prison sentence for leaking the tax data of thousands of Americans to news organizations.

Between 2018 and 2020, Littlejohn used his access to statutorily protected taxpayer data to disclose the tax information of a “high-ranking government official,” later identified as President Trump, to the New York Times. He also leaked the tax data of thousands of the nation’s wealthiest individuals to ProPublica. Both outlets ran coverage based on the disclosed information.

NB Charles Littlejohn pleaded guilty on October 12, 2023, to one count of disclosing tax return information without authorization.

NB2 So the leaks occurred during the Trump 1 administration and the conviction of the leaker occurred during the Biden administration.

In the article you linked to, an amicus brief supporting the government position, or rather what should be the government's position, was filed. Well worth reading. Among other things, Trump brought his case way too late, and should have sued the contractor, not the Federal Govt. Other people filed earlier and reached settlements with the government.

More Pavlovian ridiculous claims from you! 😂

Trump should be suing himself?

LOL!

Sunny, you're such a funny little guy!

You want to see actual "weaponization"?

Comey, Letitia James, Jason Crow, Mark Kelly, Elisa Slotkin, John Brennan, Miles Taylor, Chris Krebs, Jack Smith, Mark Milley....even Jimmy KImmel for Christ's sake!

Oh, and what a "coincidence" that in term 1, the IRS did long audits of James Comey and Andrew McCabe.

OTOH, under the Biden DoJ, Trump was investigated for stealing boxes of highly classified documents, including TS, SCI, SAP, Codeword, RD and HCS. Please tell us, Sunny, what a wedding planner needs with documents detailing the true identities of foreign human clandestine assets working with US intelligence. Why did Trump subsequently lie about returning them all, which precipitated an FBI raid for the sake of national security?

Trump was additionally investigated for telling the SecState of Georgia to "just find me...11,780 votes".

Then there's 6 January 2021. Maybe you know, Sunny, why Trump Tweeted for his goobers to come to DC for the 6th, posting "It'll be WILD!!!!!". Why did he then gather his goobers on the Mall and tell them to march to the US Capitol, when the only thing going on was a pro forma certification by the VP of the election Trump lost?

I know it takes more brainpower than the typical MAGA has to see the difference in these attempts at prosecution. Just, for the sake of all that is good decent, try Sunny.

As you note above from the linked article, there may be statute of limitation issues on the lawsuit.

I see you have no answer for that fact that the release of those documents took place during the Trump administration. Moreover, the prosecution of the leaker took place during the Biden administration.

And what has Trump's private lawsuit against the the Dept of Justice got to do with lawfare? In your eyes, is Trump now a king and his private interests inseparable from the federal government?

Maybe the only lawfare real tears so far come from Please-don't-fire-me former AG Ms. Bondi.

Trump's extremely litigious nature is just more evidence of his victim mentality, and the fact that this very weak and pathetic clown is America's greatest snowflake.

In other words, you have no answers.

Your whining crybaby messiah thinks everyone was picking on him, just because he jeopardized US national security, endangered the identities of clandestine foreign intel assets, tried to overthrow the results of the Georgia election, engaged in fraudulent business practices in NY State (41 felony convictions), and tried to overthrow 240 years of American democracy.

Jeez, those lefties sure are picky!

Translation: He sued me 50 years ago, won, and here I am on an obscure Forum screeching Trump hate to trolls and bots while he is President of the World.

I guess everytime Trump says "winning" you sob brokenly

What don't you understand about the fact that Trump is using a civil lawsuit against the government he heads to enrich himself? He seems to determined to drive his esteem from Americans to ever lower levels.
