Need reliable pool guy

Featured Replies

Hello

Looking for someone who is reliable with regular swimming pool maintenance in East Pattaya. Current guy is good but rarely shows up.

Please provide recommendations - not ads.

Thank you!

I think virtually everyone in Thailand needs that, same for a electrician, a plumber and so on and fort. The issue is that the already super rare good ones always get busy quickly, then get the better jobs and opportunities or rich customers that are smart to utilize them fulltime, and then you need to find a new one again.

I thought often to build the platform as i have the code from a EU project before, but the issue is the lack of human with the skills. The last time I had a electric problem it took 6 certified electricians, to finally find out, a rat bit trough a main cable. This after we were nearly electrocuted twice in our own shower.

I figured it is easier to buy smart hardware and learn things yourself, specially in today's age of products available for almost anything. Most people not want to do the pool only because the machine looks intimidating, and the mixing of chemicals or chlorine.

This while in reality it is a no brainer task you just need to take once 1 hour for to figure out, and you can premix already 20-30 empty bottles with exactly the right proportions of your pool too. I guess it would be a million dollar business idea if for some reason being able to fully automate this and cleaning, while being able to install on existing systems and pools.

A saltwater chlorinator with Ph module and a pool vacuum robot don't cost a million dollars

Anyone?

DIY

Easy, especially when pool is indoor.

About one hour of light physical activity in the pool per week

Pool isn't indoor and it looks like a PITA to do this 2x per week.

I'd rather delegate and pay for that.

Try Sakon swimming pool. They are currently building my pool in Buri Ram. They do maintenance as well. Very impressed by them. Contact is Bjarne.

Pay better.

Paying standard rate - 2500 THB/month. I thought that was the going rate.

How much should I be paying?

That's plenty. Maybe check with who your neighbors use.

I pay 2600 a month and the guy seems quite reliable, I pay more for chemicals. Comes out of 'Home and Pool' located North end of 3rd Rd. I guess they would have to have guys doing the rounds in your area.

If you were almost electrocuted 2 times already, isnt it about time then you put a RCBO in your electric installation?

Or are you waiting on third time, which can be fatal?

crap! that reminds me .......

we don't have one of those, either. Which led to the pool pump catching fire last week.

Poolpump on fire?! Caused by:

Bearings broken down, more mechanical resistance, more electric power, rising Amp, rising temperature

Fuse on pump way too big, if there is any.

The pump cooling fan has broken down and therefor no cooling, rising temperature

Due to above reasons, electric break down in windings (motor), rising temperature.

Fuse didnt work, is broken, too big (and you have no RCBO. )

Maybe RCBO would have shut it off, depending on measuring difference on in and out, Live and Neutral.

Then you have earth leakage of at least 30 mA and it will THEN only shut down.

But if situation is not like that ( no earth leakage) , then no shut off and fuse should have acted.

However if fuse is too big then it can continue until value of fuse is reached.

At least enough electric energy could go on and made pump hot and set on fire. As you noticed.

If the pump is say 750 W, it is 3,26 Amp, too choose fuse, is the first in line above that. JUST ONLY for pump !

If it is connected, combined with more items, you should one made separately for the pump.

The pump is pumping water and water can work in mysterious ways and also pump is working quite a lot, so protecting it separate (electric) is the way to go.

Fuses can be bought including RCBO action, so you can make any, every group has his own RCBO action for that group.

Cost more. then just one central RCBO. But at least you should have one in main .

Maybe if you buy a good pump, it can have an included temperature switch.

If temp gets too high it shuts off. Commonly used in coffee machines, dishwashers, washing machines. Also in amplifiers. There are numerous variations, this one to show. Mostly you dont see them as they are built in on the place where it matters. They switch on specific temp. Chosen right, way before fire.
