Phitsanulok man admits torching forest out of boredom

A 22-year-old man in Phitsanulok has been arrested after confessing to deliberately starting a forest fire for amusement. Rangers from Chat Trakan Waterfall National Park found him in the forest carrying a lighter during a patrol prompted by repeated fire reports. During questioning, he said he wanted to create a blaze so rangers would come and put it out. He has since been handed over to the police for legal proceedings related to damage to natural resources. Authorities also noted that fire-setting remains a wider problem in the North, with dozens of suspects identified in similar cases elsewhere.
