Rama 2 works pushed back again as construction costs climb

Construction on Rama 2 Road has been delayed again, with completion now pushed to mid-2027. The Transport Ministry said rising fuel prices and more expensive building materials were behind the latest extension, with asphalt costs said to have doubled. The route has already become notorious for decades of disruption, congestion and accidents linked to ongoing works. Major projects there include the M82 Motorway and the Rama 3–Dao Khanong–Western Bangkok Outer Ring Road Expressway, alongside smaller upgrades. Residents are still pressing officials to finish the work sooner and reduce the burden on one of the country’s most infamous road projects.
