VPN

Featured Replies

In January, I installed NordVPN on my PC and also on my smartphone (contract valid for 10 devices).

Since installation, my DTAC data usage has remained constant. Therefore, I no longer need to add any top-ups. Savings: approximately 300 baht each month. Is this normal ?

Concerned about the permanent free access, Google's AI responded, without certainty, that the VPN probably masks data consumption, thus blocking the nature of the charge for top-ups.

Even better, I now use my smartphone as a free Wi-Fi hotspot for the PC. An additional 400 baht in potential monthly savings, but I haven't dared to use it yet.

What do you think, a great opportunity or a long-term risk ?

Scammers on Lazada/Shopee have been ripping off the networks in that way for years. You'll see their ads with suspiciously cheap prices and the need to use some unheard of 'VPN'.

How much monthly ? Or annually ?

Depends on your monthly data plan/usage. I have monthly100G, but I barely use 10. Mostly WiFi I use.

Depends on what data package you have from DTAC? In reality, a VPN actually uses more data, never less, usually about 5% to 15% more. This is because the encryption adds extra weight to every "packet" of information sent.

Yes, that's exactly the answer from Google's AI, and yet my data counter remains stuck, except for the 20 THB monthly time allowance.

DTAC 20 THB every month.

Nordvpn 2700 THB for 2 years

Ask AI for the best free ones. The safest things to do are install banking apps and not use websites. Never save a card to a foreign website. Paid vpns are a scam like anti virus

To wrap up this topic, the DTAC data meter is now charging me, with or without a VPN. 20B practically every time I use it, like some kind of catch-up payment.

So I bought an unlimited SIM data plan like before. In the end, I've only gained a few months.

Can you post a link or more info on your unlimited data plan?

Thanks 🙏

That's not an unlimited SIM data plan according to the text, but 200GB over the entire year which likely won't be much good.

Unlimited speed, 1000 Mbps. Used in exceptionnal conjunction with Wi-Fi.

There are many unlimited DTAC plans with around 2000 Mbps and speeds between 10 and 30 Mbps. That's what I used last years.

But since I only use data outside of Wi-Fi to pay with phone this year I'm going to prioritize speed.

Sorry, you've lost me. In your OP you mentioned

If this is where you're headed the 200GB will be gone in no time.

And this bit doesn't make sense at all. Should the first figure be 200GB monthly data?

2000 THB.

I am not fluent enough in English

I use DTAC I'm restricted to 100 GB per month which is 3.23 daily. I normally buy mine from Lazada

as it's 300 baht cheaper than DTAC at Central, but I stll have to go to DTAC Central to get it activated.

You can register DTAC sims yourself using the True phone app.
