Another DOJ Nothingburger: Thanks Trump

US justice department drops probe into Fed chairman Jerome Powell

The US justice department is dropping its investigation into the Federal Reserve chairman, Jerome Powell, over alleged building cost overruns.

US Attorney Jeanine Pirro said instead there would be an internal investigation led by the central bank's inspector general.

President Donald Trump has said the cost of the Fed's building renovations were too high, as part of a long-standing feud with Powell.

But wait...there's more.

Late last week the DoJ issued subpoenas to a number of people to appear before a Grand Jury to look into John Brennan. Over the weekend the DoJ pulled all the subpoenas. "Never mind", as Rosanne Rosannadanna used to say. An earlier prosecutor in the Brennan witch hunt left the DoJ, saying there was nothing to prosecute re Brennan, so Trump's lackey passed the vindictive case to an inexperienced prosecutor in the southern district of Florida. Hence the issue/pull of the subpoenas. Bumbling fools, one and all.

Given that Brennan underwent an in depth investigation by John Durham, and AG Barr, plus Mueller, and finally SSCI Chair Rubio---getting a clean bill of health from all, it unlikely anybody---even a DNI anxious to keep her job is unlikely to find anything that would even hint at a reasonable case.

Maybe the DoJ will try Letitia James again? Makes as much sense as their other cases, which is to say none.

The increasing list of failures points out two things: one is that Trump's people are truly moronic, and the other just shows clearly that all of these cases are solely about vindictiveness and Trump's woefully fragile ego.

Well, be fair. Durham's investigation only lasted about 4 years. During most of which the Biden administration brutally didn't interfere with it at all.

Despite all the bombast about potential corruption, the DOJ had nothing. Upon being called on it, the DOJ folded........don't ya just love it.
