Pattaya: Bolt / Grab transport / InDrive, user experience

Pattaya, user experience with Bolt,

Grab transport,

InDrive,

and Maxim.

Bolt: Known by most people, normally less than 2 minute wait for mc or car.

Any festival in Pattaya, waiting time often 20 minutes to 1 hour, to impossible at peak time 7-11 pm (my experience).

MC drivers often drive very fast, and I had to cut the ride short a few times. Paid full amount and found other safer transport.

Have reported a few drivers with video proof for: under influence, watching tiktok while driving, or 80+ km/h racing within city center.

Screening of drivers and street legal motorcycles are poor, many reports in the news. The reason why renewal of their license are unsure at the moment. Hope bolt continue since they're still number 1, everything considered.

Grab transport: Waiting time 5-10 minute on average from my experience. Have not had any uncomfortable experience so far, but they need more vehicles available. My 2'nd option.

InDrive: very few if any motorcycles in Pattaya, still unable to find a available mc driver in city center.

Cars waiting time average 10+ minutes.

InDrive show how many drivers who consider your trip. Unless I offer 15-20+ baht more (bottom right side + offer higher rate in options comments) for the ride, no driver accept.

This concept for me as a customer is a failure, and time consuming.

Until InDrive get more vehicles available, and drivers who accept trip for the standard price, I only use one of the above alternatives. Not a customer friendly option imo.

Maxim: was recommended on fb, so I downloaded the app. When register, a photo ID was required, so I cancelled the app. I want my privacy, thank you.

Other users of maxim, and your user experience?

Please share your experiences with ride hailing in Pattaya.

I only use Bolt - Cars only.

No hailing, book on app.

Been fantastic most times of the day and night in Pattaya and Bangkok.

Maxim maps are terrible. Grab and Bolt were ok. Drivers vary from good to morons.

Never used Indriver

How about showing some actual proof for a change instead of just copying all your rubbish from ChatPT everyday. You are a total fraud and everyone on the site knows it harrisfan/.

Last Week I had a Bolt driver from India! He had no clue about driving from A to B in Jomtien.

No joke

I used InDrive a few times.

I never even noticed what you mentioned. A bunch of drivers show up and I click on Accept. Not sure if I've been over-paying or getting ripped off. But I don't hail rides every day, so 20 Baht here and there makes no difference.

And waiting 10 minutes is usually not a big deal either since I don't need to get to important board meetings. I'm a nobody with time on my hands.

Unless he had Thai citizenship, another example of little check on their drivers.

Fingerprint or facial log-in might be requirements for drivers in the future, and professional license was required earlier this year.

I use Bolt a lot, 100+ times per month.

Often the motorbike, license plate and driver are not the same as in the app.

Never any problem with their cars.

I have used both Grab and Bolt across most tourist and expat places I have visited. Bueng Kan doesn't have either but it's small enough to walk around.

I have found Bolt to be faster to arrive and slightly cheaper. Both are the same with regard to driving and quality of vehicle. I won't use a motorcycle taxi.

I have my own car which, when I travel inter-provincially, stays in the hotel car park after beer o clock until required the following day.

I mostly walk but often either due to distance, (for example Pattaya to Bang Saray) or some other reason (for example, a "personal, localised state of flux") I now prefer to catch a Bolt.

What do you do for fun in Bueng Kan?

Posting about/describing yourself again I see!

I am not in Pattaya but I have used Bolt. Found them to be very good.

Well, in your case, you could just stay inside and type inane comments using one hand.

He could not follow the directs on his phone ?

I use Bolt cars 3 to 4 times every day, usually 100 to 150bht trips, in daylight hours,. Always select bolt not basic option. Seldom an issue apart from they often can't change 500bht note. Last few days in Pattaya area very long wait times 15 min +. I try to get electric powered expander style.

I've been to 3 whale rock twice, wat phu tok twice, naga once and a waterfall. Went to a great gym there. Drove to That Phanom twice. Went to Mukdahan.

So it's not me staying inside. You sound sad.

I've been using Bolt cars since it first started. I must say so far not one problem and at the right price.

A few calling me to try and bump the price, the odd one accepting and then cancelling, but mostly a good service. Surprised they can be so cheap some times.

So far only good experiences with Bolt; even rides to and from outside places like Bang Saray no problem at all.

I would never, ever hail a motorcycle for any drive in a place like Pattaya (or Phuket, or Bangkok, for that matter), cars only is a must.

Lady Bolt drivers (an option available on the bolt app) are very good and safer for ladies my wife and daughter use them in pattaya.

Cost a little more but friendly professional service every time.

Only problem is they talk too much 🤣🤣

Bolt introduces driver facial recognition. Just in the news.
