Bangkok MP Challenges AOT Over Planned Airport Fee Increase

Bangkok MP Suphanat Minchaiynunt has questioned Airports of Thailand over its planned increase in international departure passenger fees from 730 baht to 1,120 baht from June 20, 2026. The rise of more than 50% has drawn criticism as travellers already face higher living and travel costs. AOT says the additional revenue is needed to fund airport improvements and meet ICAO standards, but Suphanat asked why the company’s multibillion-baht profits were not used for those upgrades first. He pointed to reported profits of more than 18 billion baht in 2025 and more than 19 billion baht in 2024, while also questioning spending, procurement, and dividend priorities. Once Parliament forms a transport committee, AOT and the Ministry of Transport are expected to be called in to explain the decision.
