Ps2, Gameboy Or Xbox For 4-year Old

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am looking to purchase a game console for my 4-year old bi-lingual daughter. I believe that [limited use of] interactive games are better than just about any TV program, no matter how good the TV programing is (e.g. Disney channel) and she is already pretty good navigating some Internet Java games with an ordinary mouse.

Let me stress the "limited" part of this approach to child development. I'm sure some parents will be horrified, but please, get a grip ... you kids are growing up in a new world. I am looking for Winnie-the-Pooh and Barney titles.

I would like to hear about experiences with the different products available and their associated libraries of educational games/media. Also, where is a good place to buy? Panthip?

I'm evaluating Sony PS2/PS3, GameBoy, Xbox, etc.

Thanks for any help you can offer,

NaiGreg

I would suggest you look for PC based games instead. Those game consoles have a limited usage, lifespan, usefulness etc. There is no game on them that you can't get for PC, and PC has a wider variety. Also, you being to introduce them to the computer, which is not a bad thing!

Also, the mouse is easier to use at that age then those crazy handsets the other machines come with.

Also, there are many many great kids websites that have games for kids. seseamestreet.com etc.... (not sure if i spelled it right)
