Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi have seen substantial increases in international tourists in the early months of 2026. From January to April, Ho Chi Minh City attracted approximately 4.78 million international visitors, nearly reaching half of its yearly target. This influx contributed to tourism revenue amounting to VND172 trillion (US$6.5 billion), achieving over 52% of the annual goal.

These figures follow the previous year’s administrative overhaul when HCMC merged with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces. In Hanoi, international arrivals reached 3.29 million during the same period, marking a 26.9% increase from the previous year. Tourism earnings in the capital rose to VND50.8 trillion, reflecting a 22.8% growth.

Accommodations in Hanoi include 3,761 lodging facilities and 66 hotels rated from one to five stars, with room occupancy averaging nearly 70% in April. Meanwhile, Vietnam as a whole welcomed 2.03 million international visitors in April, making a total of 8.8 million in the first four months, accounting for 35% of the country’s target of 25 million arrivals for 2026.
