August 26, 200718 yr I'm dying from couristy how many expats reside here on N O visas and marriage visas. Your question needs modifying. People travel to Thailand with a non-O visa, then reside in Thailand based on a permission to stay. This permission to stay can be based on the visa, ie entry stamp, or it can be based on a Police Order, ie an extension of stay for living with Thai wife, or for investment, or for retirement, or for living with Thai child, or for living as a dependent of the holder of a specific type of extension, etc. The closest you can get to “residing on N O visas and marriage visas” are people who travelled to Thailand with a non-O visa, either single-entry or multiple-entry, in the latter case doing quarterly border runs, but this number would not include people on an extension of stay. An extension of stay does not reflect the visa type on which one entered Thailand, it reflects the reason for the extension. For example, you can apply for an extension to live with Thai wife, if you meet the requirements, regardless whether you entered with a non-B, non-Ed, or non-O visa. -- Maestro The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
August 27, 200718 yr Author Good point the only source I could find at this juncture was Justmag, serving 600 retired American service personnel here. That is just a drop in the bucket. In Udon there are a lot of American that are not retired from the military. So how do, do a poll that would give a fair indication of the english speaking residents. Or does anyone have a contact with the Thai Chamber of Commerce they should have that information. I'm really very curious as to what we represent to the Thai community, my gut tells me we are an overlooked resource.
