Looking at getting the active 20 pool robot as starting to (Always have ) hate cleaning the pool
Anyone used one of these or similar or cheaper brands?
Prefer to pay more it they last but also heard these pack in within 2 years

I have a Maytronics Dolphin S200 and it basically does what it says on the tin. Mine is 5+ years old and so far I replaced the filters panels, the tracks, and the main cable. The cable eventually rots with pool chemicals and UV, and they're expensive, Try and source on outside TH if you can, I had a mate bring one from Spain where they're 1/3 of the local price.

Here's some basic facts/hints:
They run for 2hrs but will not clean your entire pool, you need to run it 3 - 4 times and launch it from a different spot each time. Even then, it might miss some areas, but this will depend on the size of your pool.
When the bot has finished each cycle, clean the filter immediately. When it's done for the day, wash the bot (inc. cable) with fresh water and store it out of sunlight.

They're crap at cleaning the pool sides, corners, steps, etc. Sooner or later, you will need to get the brush and vacuum out and do the job yourself - albeit less often.
Strangely, they're very good a cleaning jacuzzis - you just need to brush it beforehand. The bot tries to clamber here there and everywhere (unsuccessfully), but all the while filtering the water.

Basically it's a convenience. It takes 2 hours to brush and vacuum my pool (120 cu.m), and I hate it too. The bot takes 6 - 8 hours, does a fairly good job - but you still have all the filter cleaning, washdown and storage to think about.
