Tourists Flock to Vietnam's Ly Son for Summer Getaways

Ly Son Island, located off Vietnam's Quang Ngai Province, topped the list as the most searched destination by tourists this summer, according to data from the travel platform Agoda. The island's unspoiled landscapes and tranquil environment have made it a popular alternative to more crowded Vietnamese destinations. Based on accommodation searches from January 1 to April 30, 2026, for travel between June 1 and July 31, Ly Son outranked traditional favorites such as Phu Quoc and Phu Quy Islands.

Ly Son is located 30 kilometers off the coast and is renowned for its garlic farms and pristine waters. The island district, spanning around 10 square kilometers, is one of Vietnam's few volcanic locales. It comprises three islands: Dao Lon (Big Island), Dao Be (Small Island), and the uninhabited Mu Cu Islet. Best visited from April to August, Ly Son offers ideal weather with minimal rain and abundant sunshine during this period.

Experts attribute Ly Son's rising popularity to its scenic beauty and slower pace compared to bustling tourist spots. Agoda highlighted its clear waters, coral reefs, and landscapes as key attractions for visitors seeking a serene getaway. Other destinations making Agoda's list of most searched sites include Ninh Binh, Mai Chau, Mang Den, and Tay Ninh.

Looking ahead, the increase in tourism could boost the local economy of Quang Ngai Province, providing opportunities for sustainable development on the island. Authorities are expected to enhance infrastructure and facilities to accommodate the growing number of visitors while maintaining the natural charm that attracts them. Continued promotion and conservation efforts will be crucial in preserving Ly Son’s allure.
