Best doctor / hospital to go to for knee replacement surgery

Featured Replies

Hello

From peoples experience do anybody have any recommendations of a Surgeon or hospital to contact concerning Knee replacement Surgery ?

Also how much the procedure will cost ?

I live near the Cambodian border and the nearest hospitals are in Chanthaburi , however I am open to Pattaya and bangkok area.

Preferably would like the best surgeon I can get

I am paying for this myself , and if getting a top surgeon would cost me 2/3k uk pounds more , than I would rather do that .

My concern about Bangkok is how many visits are required to the hospital post -op , as I do not really want to keep travelling to bangkok

However for recovery I am potentially looking at staying somewhere for 6 weeks , which has a few more facilities than where I currently live

(ie beach, Swimming pool and Gym)

Overall all my aim is to be up and about as soon as possible , having the best care available , as long as I am not paying an Arm and Leg extra,

over what the operation would cost just picking a good hospital

I will be paying cash ,

Any info would be helpfult

How long is the physio required after surgery? Lots of Air BnB choices in Bangkok. How old are you? Will you have help?

Sheryl, no good choices in public hospitals?

There are some OK choices in public hospitals but OP indicated he wants the best.

Physio is minimal to non-existant after TKR in Thailand, unfortunately. Mostly have to DIY though might get shown some exercises before discharge. Plenty of exercises on youtube.

Patients are walking before discharge though may need a cane or walker for the first few weeks. He should be able to go back home pretty soon after discharge.

The only issue there is long wait list (as in, sometimes several years..

but it does vary by hospital). If you can tolerate the wait, and givrn yhst NHS already offered you the procedure, good idea to do under NHS.
