Trump Threatens Oman As Gulf Tensions Boil Over

President Warns US Ally To ‘Behave’ Or Face Destruction

Donald Trump has sparked fresh fears of another Middle East conflict after threatening to “blow up” Oman during a chaotic White House Cabinet meeting focused on the Strait of Hormuz crisis.

The extraordinary remarks came as tensions continue to simmer across the Gulf following months of conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States.

Trump’s warning immediately triggered backlash online, with critics accusing the president of abandoning his long-running “no new wars” pledge while embracing increasingly aggressive rhetoric abroad.

Trump Explodes Over Hormuz Oversight Talks

The confrontation centred on reports that Iran and Oman have discussed jointly overseeing shipping through the Strait of Hormuz — one of the most strategically vital waterways on Earth.

Roughly 20 per cent of the world’s oil supply passes through the narrow shipping lane, making any disruption a major threat to global energy markets.

Asked about the proposed arrangement during Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting, Trump flatly rejected the idea.

“Oman will behave just like everybody else, or we’ll have to blow them up,” the president said.

“They understand that. They’ll be fine.”

The blunt threat stunned observers given Oman has traditionally been viewed as one of Washington’s most reliable diplomatic partners in the Gulf.

Iran Pushes For Greater Regional Control

Iran has reportedly been exploring new regional arrangements for maritime security and shipping regulation after months of instability crippled commercial traffic in the Strait.

Officials in Tehran are believed to have discussed possible transit systems, security coordination and shipping-related fees tied to reopening the route fully to international trade.

While Iran has reportedly backed away from imposing direct tolls on vessels, officials have warned that other service charges may still be introduced.

The White House fears any permanent Iranian influence over Hormuz could give Tehran enormous leverage over global oil supplies and international shipping.

Critics Say Trump Is Drifting Toward War

Trump’s remarks quickly exploded across social media, where critics accused him of escalating tensions recklessly.

One widely shared video from a US Navy veteran and political commentator claimed Trump had gone from “no new wars” to appearing eager for another military confrontation.

“This guy is completely gone,” the commentator said.

Others pointed to Trump’s increasingly combative language surrounding Iran and the Gulf, particularly after repeated threats of further bombing campaigns if negotiations collapse.

Oman Caught In Dangerous Middle Ground

Oman has historically acted as a quiet diplomatic bridge between Iran, Gulf states and Western governments, often helping mediate sensitive negotiations behind the scenes.

Its position along the Strait of Hormuz also makes it a critical player in maintaining regional stability.

Analysts warn that direct American hostility toward Oman would represent a dramatic escalation in Gulf tensions and risk destabilising one of the few remaining diplomatic channels in the region.

Strait Of Hormuz Remains Global Flashpoint

The Strait of Hormuz has become the central pressure point in the wider regional crisis.

With global energy markets already rattled by months of conflict, even the suggestion of new restrictions or military escalation around the shipping lane has sent alarm through financial and diplomatic circles.

Trump’s latest comments are likely to deepen fears that the fragile ceasefire between Washington and Tehran could rapidly unravel if negotiations fail.
