May 29May 29 Had a inguinal hernia repaired (open) a few years ago and it failed. Recovery from that one was a bit painful. The other side has developed one too. I would think it's better to get them both done at the same time. I do most of my medical stuff there so am not looking for “it's cheaper at...“ responses.Recommended surgeons, and the appropriate package would be appreciated. The packages range from 300k for a bilateral (both sides) open surgery to 350k for Laparoscopic bilateral to 450k for robot assisted bilateral. I don't want yo do open again. So is robotic assistance a better route? How much does the robotics do? It's all about better outcomes. I don't want to have to do mor surgeries to repair the same problem in a few years. Who is the best surgeon to pick to do this? Thanks Edited May 29May 29 by gargamon
May 29May 29 As far as I know there is a Robotic Surgery Center in BKK. Prof Dr. Thun. 02 3103002Also at Bumrungrad there is a Robotic Surgery Center, and other Hospitals
May 29May 29 Robotic and laparoscopic techniques have quicker recovery times, not better outcomes per se. And with robotic you must consider the extent of the surgeon's experience.Given that you have had 1 failed procedure already, I think your priority should be getting a top notch surgeon with especial expertise in hernia repairs including repair of failed prior surgeries...and then being guided by him/her as to best type of approach for your particular situation. The best surgeon I know of for this is at Samitivej:https://www.samitivejhospitals.com/doctor/detail/pakpong-wathanaoran

I'm doing a TURBT there next week and will do the hernia after the appropriate recovery so will have time to check them out.

Recovery from that one was a bit painfulIn my early 30's I had an inguinal hernia repair, private hospital on the Gold Coast. It failed, also the second repair failed, the surgeon didn't use the gause or mesh.3rd time mesh used, it's been OK but at times I'm on the incline bench doing sit ups, I can feel it going back inside after it's popped out slightly.Disappointed with Australian surgeon, 3rd attempt, still problems. Doing it there would require getting cardiac clearance, etc at Samitivej as they won't accept the ones I already have from Bumrungrad.
