Where do Phuket residents buy good quality beef?

Featured Replies

Dear all,

I've recently relocated back to Thailand after more than 20 years away, moving here from Singapore.

One of the things I've been delighted by is the lower cost of living. In particular, I've been very impressed by the quality and value of pork and chicken compared with what I was paying in Singapore.

What has surprised me, however, is that the beef I've seen so far appears to be priced very similarly to Singapore, especially when looking at steaks in the larger supermarkets.

I'm based in Phuket and would be very grateful for any recommendations on where to buy good quality beef. That could be local butchers, specialist suppliers, supermarkets, or even online suppliers elsewhere in Thailand that deliver to Phuket.

So far I've only found one butcher outside the main supermarket chains and, if I'm being honest, I wasn't especially inspired by what I saw.

I'd be particularly interested in hearing where others buy their steaks and roasting joints, and whether there are any suppliers that offer consistently good quality at sensible prices.

Many thanks in advance for any recommendations.
