Fake Woody Allen antisemitism rant fooled thousands? And you?

Featured Replies

Dear Folks,

What is all this recent hand-wringing involving "antisemitism".

I, for one, do NOT buy it.

I think that "antisemitism" waxes and wanes but mostly wanes.

What about YOU?

Do you agree?

Now let us take the case we find here, on this blog:

The other question is: WHY are we reading the Saint Louis Jewish Light.....IN THE FIRST PLACE....?????

At the very least, when I read about Jews in America, I go first to NYC publications, since they are just more....

ERUDITE.

But, anyway: What do you think Woody, my fave director, would say about the Bombings carried out by Israel?

Probably not much.

Allen might just retreat into his jazz music, which is what we should all be doing here on TV.

Best regards,

Gamma

Note: And....Have A GOOD One....!!!

NOTE2: IVY-EDUCATED ANTI-ZIONISM....???? I, for one, would like to know more about THAT....!!!!

Most of the world sees that Israelis and Zionist Jews (and Zionist Christians) use the term "antisemitism" as a pejorative hammer against any and all criticism of Israeli colonialism in the Levant.
Sure, there are some people in this world who actually hate Jewish people and can be legitimately called "antisemitic", but the vast majority harbor no animosity toward the Jewish religion or its followers, although many, if not most, abhor the genocidal ethnic cleansing and murderous bombing of civilian infrastructure in Arab (and Persian) countries in the Middle East. So the term "antisemitism" is rolled out to attached to anyone who dares to criticize the actions of the Israeli government and the IDF for their actions which often border on barbaric.

It would be hard to disagree with what you have stated.

This is a key distrinction.

The St. Louis article is sourced from the very historic The Forward which currently caters to left of center / liberal American Jews.

Interestingly the Forward was originally from 1897 called The Jewish Daily Forward published in Yiddish and was socialist and anti Zionist.

nterestingly the Forward was originally long ago in Yiddish socialist and anti Zionist.

This is why it is so enjoyable.

Anyway I highly recommend The Forward

They are not socialist or anti Zionist now though they're very critical of the Israeli governmen and of course Trump.

No, the photo does not show a building on fire.

The image captures a reflection of a fire on the plastic perspex riot shields held by police officers.

The flames visible in the image are a reflection of a large wheelie bin or trash bin that was set on fire in the street by protesters, rather than a burning building.

What, exactly, were they protesting, do you think?

Is there any other kind? Israel appears to be rammed full of them but the Jews I've known back home have all been progressive.

The Jews I knew in my Jewish neighborhood were far less obnoxious than the Gentiles I knew in my gentile neighborhood.

That many years ago, I don't think we were that concerned with our neighbors' politics.

Whatever floats your boat.

Dude, impossible to take you seriously.

You come off as a troll trying to deny that racist Jew hatred exists.

May as well say the earth is flat.

Go ahead and have your stupid pleasures.

A significant majority of American Jews have been democrats and/or "progressive" for many decades.

The Daily Jewish Forward back in the day (1897) was "socialist" mainly because of labor and union rights in response to the horrific abuses of the robber barons.

There are of course right wing American Jews. They're always trying to persuade more American Jews to join them. Their argument is that racist Jew hatred comes from the left. But it comes from the left and the right and American Jews at 2 percent are way too tiny a minority in a non-parliamentary system to have their own political party.

White people on the other hand do have their own party -- the republicans.

Don't think it is racist Jew hatred. Just plain Jew hatred. Been like that throughout recorded human history.

Can't see it changing anytime soon.

Where did that come from? It wasn't about politics, it's a world view. Being progressive only became a slur recently and I sure didn't mean it that way. Time to stop living in your head and get out and meet some new people. Sheesh.

Wrong thread @Purdey ?

Yeah, I agree. What we are seeing right now is a 'circling of the wagons' by some Westerrn Jews because they see most of the world is turning against Israel as a whole. So this Jewish reaction is meant as a fight back using the old 'antisemitism' argument.
