DTV with a new passport and airlines

Featured Replies

Hello, everyone!

I got a new passport but I have a valid DTV e-visa with the old passport. I know it's pretty standard to carry both passport on entry but how do the airlines handle that when flying to Thailand?

I know some of them are quite strict on e-visa matching the passport number. Did any of you have problems boarding with old + new passport and e-visa? How did the airlines handle it?

Hand over your valid passport. If they ask about a visa, show them the printed visa. If they ask anything beyond that, you can tell/show them that your old passport expired but you can still use your new one.

Airline will be fine.

Thinking you still have the email of your approved e-Visa.

Would not hurt to have that.

You actually have a valid multi entry visa.

When a pp is renewed any valid visa and valid permits eg reentry permit remain valid.

Which immigration office will you deal with in Thailand

Immigration Division 1. They told me via email I won't have issue entering the country if I bring old + new passport and the DTV visa.

If you read your DTV visa under remarks on your printed copy, it will state when your current passport expires. You simply present old and new passport and it's transferred at the immigration counter.

He should really have several printed copies to carry with him of his DTV and just show them at the counter to immigration.

It's basic. It shows under remarks when his current passport expires, it's written in Thai.

Indeed.

Being Oz, I require an eVisa to enter Vietnam. I usually just obtain multi 90 day eVisa and show airline and immigration.

The OP, s concern is the printout has old pp #..

That's fine he just needs to carry both passports
