A luxury resort project linked to Jared Kushner has triggered a growing political storm in Albania, with protests, clashes and corruption concerns putting the controversial development under intense scrutiny.

Demonstrators have taken to the streets of the capital, Tirana, accusing authorities of putting private interests ahead of environmental protection. What began as a dispute over a tourism project is rapidly becoming a wider battle over land, transparency and political influence.

A Paradise Development Meets Fierce Resistance

The proposed development would transform two coastal sites into high-end tourist destinations featuring hotels, villas, apartments and a marina.

One of the locations sits within the Narta Lagoon area, a protected wildlife reserve and an important stopover for migratory birds. Environmental campaigners warn that large-scale construction could permanently alter one of Albania’s most sensitive coastal ecosystems.

As tensions have grown, protesters have rallied around an unlikely mascot: the flamingo.

Demonstrators carrying cardboard flamingos have become a common sight at rallies, using the bird to symbolise what they see as a fight to protect Albania’s natural heritage from powerful commercial interests. The pink bird has become the face of a movement determined to stop the project from moving forward unchallenged.

Clashes Raise the Stakes

The dispute escalated sharply this week as police deployed water cannon against protesters in Tirana.

Public anger intensified further after footage emerged appearing to show an activist being dragged away by a private security guard during a demonstration at the development site. The images fuelled accusations that opponents of the project were being intimidated.

Questions Mount Over Oversight

Adding to the pressure, Albania’s anti-corruption agency has confirmed it has opened an investigation into the development, although officials have not disclosed details.

The controversy has also drawn attention after Ivanka Trump revealed that she and Kushner discovered one of the sites during a boat trip and were immediately captivated by its potential.

For supporters, the project promises investment and international attention. For critics, it represents a test of whether Albania’s coastline can be protected from the reach of wealth, politics and luxury development.

Well Albania is a majority Muslim country though not generally fanatics but we know about Muslims and their shoe fetish.

I see your post is hostile but you're right about one thing -- the rise in racist Jew hatred globally is not only about Israelis, it's about all Jews.

So Jews are supposed to move where exactly? I don't see any country welcoming Jews en masse except Israel, and contrary to Israeli propaganda, that's not a particularly "safe" choice.
