Nakhon Ratchasima Issues Rabies Warning After Rise in Cases

Health authorities in Nakhon Ratchasima are urging residents to stay alert after the province recorded one human rabies death and 20 animal infections this year. Officials said the latest confirmed case involved an eight-month-old dog in Mueang district that displayed erratic behaviour and attacked other animals. A temporary outbreak zone has been declared within a five-kilometre radius, while high-risk people and animals are being monitored. Authorities are pushing pet vaccination, disease surveillance, and faster reporting of sick or dead animals to control the spread. Residents are being reminded that rabies is fatal once symptoms appear and they should seek medical care immediately after any bite or scratch.
