Japanese Fraud Suspect Arrested in Bangkok Over Billion-Yen Scam Network

Bangkok immigration officers have arrested a 39-year-old Japanese national wanted in Japan over alleged call centre fraud and human trafficking links. The suspect, identified as Sasaki, was detained in the Watthana district after cooperation between Thai immigration officials and Japanese authorities. He is accused of helping run a transnational scam network based in Poipet, Cambodia, which allegedly defrauded victims in Japan of several billion yen. Japanese investigators believe he played a key role in directing the operation across multiple countries and had been hiding in Thailand with his family. He is expected to be extradited to Japan to face fraud charges.
