Report on US bombing of Iran girls' school may not be public

Four months after the horrific Iran school bombing, fears grow that Trump and Hegseth will bury the truth

A secretive investigation into the attack that killed at least 175 has concluded, reports suggest. Will its findings ever see the light of day?

The Guardian: 21 Jun 2026

The attack on a girl’s elementary school in the Iranian town of Minab was one of the US military’s deadliest civilian bombings in decades. But nearly four months on, the Pentagon has produced no answers about why the military fired a Tomahawk cruise missile into a school on the first day of the war, killing at least 175 people, mostly children.

Some critics doubt that the Pentagon ever will, or will bury the results under classifications to keep the worst mistakes secret from the public.

Shortly after the attack, Donald Trump suggested that it was carried out by Iran. When it became clear that the strike used a US-made Tomahawk missile, he suggested that Iran also had access to the cruise missiles. It does not.

It was at the beginning of what Trump has taken to calling a “little excursion” into Iran that the back-to-back or “double tap” strikes on the school building took place, killing mainly children under the age of 12. Officials have told media anonymously that the site was believed to be an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) base.

Trump said last week: “Mistakes are made. The war is nasty.”

These are very small men who have no relationship with honor, truth or dignity, and will do anything to maintain appearances, and try to fool their supporters into continuing to believe in them and their cause.

The vast majority of the American population and the world know exactly who they are, and exactly who they aren't. Denials will change none of that, nor will doing the exact opposite of what the goon promised during his campaign, which is do everything possible to practice transparency within this Administration.

One cover up after another under Don, but then again that's just his way of life. I guess you need to at least make an attempt to cover up deceit, fraud, corruption, and the real causes of an unnecessary war of choice and other levels other forms of malfeasance, incompetence and ineptitude.

Although with this guy he's not even trying to cover up the corruption, and his supporters don't really seem to care.

When the government changes, and when/if Congress reasserts control then the truth will out.

I suspect that will be down to those who head up the Congressional committee's. Several prominent individuals with good service records who have been variously threatened with prosecution ( execution has been suggested) by Trump and Hegseth may not be too kindly disposed to let it be buried.

I don't expect anyone to end up facing trial, will have to settle for shaming, disgrace and in the case of anyone serving dismissal.

Public naming of the guilty.

Not even that much on the "drug" boats.

Well of course before any of this can happen Trump has to lose control of Congress.

That, in itself, will be a whole new battle which we can expect will not be fought out following constitutional or electoral norms.
