'Guaranteed Entry' Under Some Official Scrutiny

With reports of "safe entry" services being either suspended or severely limited, I think there IS something to see here, but move along anyway.

Find your post farcical.

You post after 3 week gap with nothing more than rumor nonsense.

Post fact = first hand report.

This is Thailand. Once the news dies down and the next scandal breaks in the morning news, things will be back to normal (possibly with a few changes like Chinese no longer eligible).

If the investigation finds that any immigration officer was involved or personally demanded benefits, disciplinary action and criminal proceedings will be taken decisively and without exception. https

I find your response antagonistic.

What is the significance of what you erroneously state as a "3 week gap with nothing more than rumour nonsense" on this thread?

This is a thread about a publicly admitted review by immigration of their own procedures?

Please check your messages before you think about badgering me again.

The 'fact' that @DrJack54 seeks from me is a screen capture of a LINE conversation I have recentky with a safe entry service provider that has been recommended on this forum. I doubt they would want their confidential communications regarding their services placed openly.

@DrJack54, it is still blocked, from smartphone and laptop (below).

@ThaiVisaCentre any updates/advice regarding safe entry service?

Why -- is there a need to pay a bribe?

That's question I would expect from someone who has never been to Thailand before.

You wrote earlier this topic:

The decision to grant entry is completely up to the immigration officer. They have full discretion ..

So why should paying a bribe for discretion this time be different from any other time you pay a bribe to influence an immigration officer's discetion.

Here's a hint: Why would they exercise that discretion.

Because they've been paid a bribe to do so.

or as in Section 143 Thai Penal Code: to exercise or not to exercise any of his functions,

Or as you MAY 18 noted elsewhere this forum:

Which means any immigration officer can be the one to make the decision. And you really think the bosses (who are even more of an authorized officer) of these offices aren't fully aware of what is going on and taking their cut?

So to answer again your query above so why do they do it? To get their share of the cut

I think it goes much higher than the offices boss. All the Thai system functions as is. There is no solution. But after all there is no problem.

I have given up responding to what you think.

You don't have to. You are entitled to your opinion so am I.

One of your prior opinions:

Sure... but he should also digest the full spectrum of the real situation here, i.e. corruption everywhere, inconsistent unfair and vastly unenforced rules barely followed with reason by the huge majority of the population ...

Makes no sense to DISAGREE with a post containing quotes from multiple persons or entities unless you say with which one you disagree.

You've made your point about inherent corruption in Thailand that I and many don't disagree with. We are absolutely powerless against this.

Life in Thailand is not perfect, corruption being a trade-off (with pros and cons), but still better in my view than in many western developed societies.

Influence their decision ???

If you're arriving with a pre approved SETV (as a minimum) proof of onward travel proof of hotels proof of 20,000 Baht what decision needs to be made ??

I'm not being nave here I assure you I'm really not.....The immigration department of Thailand via the Evisa website have vetted and approved you....unless you turn up looking like a tramp drunk and stoned how are people being turned away

I read of these people being turned away. Someone suggested 30,000 elsewhere. At $10,000 a denial fine cost to the airline plus ancillary costs thats over $300 million fines and costs to arriving airlines

No airline would continue to fly to Bangkok with these costs

I'd suggest the real problems are at check in with airlines checking that onward travel is in place etc knowing full well it now needs to be

A visa being issued is not an acceptance of entry but only an approval of travel document . There is no guarantee of admitance if a imm officer determines you to being inapproptiate for admittance for any reason.

Quite simply, "tourists" don't stay here on 30 day visas that keep getting extended, that's tomfoolery.

Get a visa in your home country for 6 months if you need to stay long time.

It's simple if you are "clean" and not "dirty".

I'll throw the challenge out to forum readers

If you have a SETV after being vetted complete with 20,000 Baht proof of acccomodation onward/return ticket and dont have an extensive history of continuous visa exempt entries have you ever been denied entry at a Thailand airport ??

I have never heard of it happening in 34 years

Now doubtless someone will say me without disclosing why but I bet its 0.0001% at best

Me!

Denied entry on a brand new METV issued in the UK. That requires £5000 (220,000 Baht) savings in a bank account.

I am afraid you are very ignorant of what happens. Many, many holders of SETV's and METV's get denied entry. I understand why you think you know but you don't.

Without an extensive history, shouldn't have any issues. The only other issue that I can think of is recent education visa/extensions.

On the general topic of entry refusal, despite holding a visa - some reasons.

Not Thailand, but from my experience in Australia where visas are mandatory, but entry refusal common.

Forged, bogus travel documents. False identity. Criminal record becomes known but not declared on arrival card (no blanket checking is done at Embassies).

Funds held insufficient for declared stay. Visit plans ludicrous and not viable. Considered not a genuine tourist based on interview. Baggage search reveals criminal importations - drugs, commercial quantities of liquor, cigarettes or other goods. Child abuse material. Work contracts or tools proving an intention to work illegally. Proof of working illegally on a previous entry (old pay slips or work papers in luggage). On the alert list.

Claiming refugee status on entry automatically voids status of visa, and entry is refused pending resolution of claims.

And a thousand other reasons to refuse. A visa is not a guarantee.

And your point is what? Its a guarantee that if you obtain a visa you can not be denied entry? You add in conditions of perfect travel patterns etc and then claim or imply it cant or hasnt ever happened. go to any embassy website and you can read the disclaimer yourself. I doubt out of the millions that come here annually anyone on this or any other forum know who or how many people are denied entry or for what actual reasons.

"guaranteed entry' schemes being employed at Suvarnabhumi airport.

Thai people should hear from the PM directly that this is not happening or will be prosecuted through Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation (DSI), operating under the Ministry of Justice to pursue all such claims of "guaranteed entry" addressed in this article. PM's failure could add grounds to a Parliament vote of No Confidence and step down.

Does the average Thai person KNOW what is a "guaranteed entry" at Suvarnabhumi -- they generally enter through the Thai citizen lane.
