5 Year DTV Visa - For everyone with income from abroad.

In my 16 years living in Thailand, I’ve never seen a visa like the Destination Thailand Visa

(DTV). Honestly, it is almost too good. A 5-year visa with unlimited 180-day entries is something

we simply never had before, and for people with income from abroad, it can be one of the best

long-term options available.

At 911TLT, we have already helped secure 409 DTV approvals in a row, with no rejections. That

does not happen by luck. We assess every client carefully before applying and only take cases

we believe can be done properly. That is exactly why our results are so strong.

What confuses many people is that they assume they are not eligible when in fact they may still

qualify. The two most common concerns are location and source of funds. Some people need to

travel, and some people worry that the way their money is received, withdrawn, or used will

automatically disqualify them. In reality, there are special cases where these issues can be

approached more flexibly with the right explanation and the right structure. As long as the

person genuinely earns from abroad, brings that income into Thailand, and is not trying to take a

job in Thailand or work for a Thai company, many cases are still workable.

This is also why we sometimes succeed with clients who were previously rejected elsewhere.

We have had clients come to us after two, three, even four rejections, and still get approved.

One client came to us after four rejections and we got that case through successfully.

For us, DTV is not just one application. Many of our clients stay with us afterwards and come

back for other services as well. We help with bank account solutions, insurance, driving

licences, 5-year driving licence extensions, and even DTV extensions in Thailand without

needing to leave the country.

If you think you may not qualify, that does not always mean you are right. Sometimes the issue

is not eligibility, but understanding how to present the case properly. That is where experience

matters.

If you want a smooth, flexible process and ongoing support, now is the time. DTV won’t stay this

easy forever. Let’s talk, and let us help you every step of the way.

Sponsored.

Loving mine. I just show them the piece of paper and I am immediately stamped in for 6 months no questions asked. Not having to deal with the bureaucratic hassle and worry of having to renew or extend at immigration, and not having to carefully check travel dates makes it worth every penny.

What if you don't want to leave?

DTV is an great choice for guys under 50 but for those of us who have passed that milestone I'd suggest going with the Non-IMM O.

Mine takes <1 hour of my time per year to extend as I pay an agent to do all of the work (I have the 800K in a bank account so pay 8K THB for the extension + 4K for a multi re-enty permit) approx. 30 mins in the Bank getting the statement/letter then 2 minutes at Immigration to have my photo taken... And I can extend it up to 90 days before the extension is due so I don't have to worry too much about travel dates.

Plus I get to have a Thai Bank account (or 3 :) ) , which you cannot get/have with a DTV, though This is Thailand so never say never but even if you do have/get one, you risk it being closed at any time.

Then get a visa that allows you to extend indefinitely as long as you qualify. DTV is a glorified tourist visa, you will not be staying in Thailand forever on it.

At 85 years of age and never travelling outside Thailand this is of no interest. I have a retirement visa which I personally extend once a year which costs me 2/3 hours of my time, and 1,900 baht.

Why you paying 8K for an extension when you have 800K in the bank?

I see now, an agent.

Why pay an agent when you can do it yourself if you have funds in the bank? Waste of money.

The extension is 1900 baht plus your Re-entry permits on top.

You CAN have a bank account with a DTV as well.

I am happy with a DTV, I find it easier than my Non-O and if I have to go back, I will get a Marriage visa and then have only 400K tied up instead of 800K. Yes, I finally got married after 30 years.

It's not the money, I can afford it but resent the reasoning.

Why the hell should I have that sitting in a Thai bank year after year and the hoops about seasoning and taking this out but not that, and making sure it's back in two months before next application etc.

Even a small amount like 800K can get 5% interest in the UK.

This guy is saying they might pull the plug on the DTV, but haven't watched it.

All pure speculation with zero evidence except for claiming he's heard from someone who heard from someone who heard from someone else that someone got questioned. By his own admission that is bound to be happening more now that the DTV has been around for awhile now. So nothing more than that at this point. Also, they never said they would allow people to renew DTVs or that they plan to extend the program indefinitely, so what happens there is anyones guess.

I use an agent for convenience & the 8K (actually 6.1K as the 1.9K Immigration free is included in that) is worth it to me to save any potential hassles.

Some might think that 508.50THB pm is a waste of money & I've had exactly that conversation with 2 of my mates who didn't see the irony in them telling me how I was wasting my money whilst sat there puffing away on their >4,500THB pm habit... Point being, we all choose what's important for us to spend our money on & #1 for me is to make my life easier.

The 800K would be sat in a Thai Bank account anyway (I like to keep at least 1 years spends in cash, in-country) but even if I could get 5% on it, it's 40K pa (assuming you don't have to pay any tax) compare this with how much it would cost to have to travel out of the country every 6 months. Some people might do this anyways so it's not a big deal to them & I travel overseas at least 3 times a year but having spent 89 days outside of Thailand already this year (Maldives, Malaysia & UK), since getting back from UK in May I feel like I'm a bit travelled out but if I was on a DTV I would have to be going overseas again in November & it would cost me a lot more than 40K to do that - Yes I could get a Van to the nearest border for peanuts but who wants to spend their retirement doing stuff like that! There's also the option of doing a 1 x Extension but I couldn't be bothered if I didn't have to so would end up flying somewhere nice for a week or so.

It's been well reported that DTV visa holders cannot open bank accounts (Though This is Thailand & I've read that say TTB might be opening them for people) and whilst I haven't seen any reports of existing accounts being closed, there were reports of people who opened accounts on Visa Exempt or Tourist VIsas etc... having their account closed so there is a risk that this could happen to anybody on a DTV.

As always too each his own, you're happy on the DTV & I'm happy on my Non-IMM O which I'll extend again next month (approx 55 days before it's due, another benefit of using an agent is you can do it up to 90 days before) & as my pensions kicked in this year (hence the trip to the Maldives to celebrate my 60th), next year I might go for the LTR.

P.S. For the guys who pay an agent 15-16K to do their extensions without the 800K in the bank so they can keep it invested overseas and make more money, good on you, I like to keep at least one years expenses in cash, in-country so the money would still be in the Bank here anyways (as it will be if I do get an LTR) so the fact this covers immigration requirements is a bonus.
