Anutin Warns Heroin Arrest Could Harm Thailand’s Aviation Ambitions

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said the arrest of a Thai Airways flight attendant in Australia over alleged heroin smuggling has damaged Thailand’s international reputation. The 26-year-old cabin crew member was detained on June 25 after Australian authorities allegedly found heroin concealed inside her luggage. Anutin ordered an urgent meeting involving anti-narcotics agencies and Airports of Thailand to review the incident and strengthen preventive measures. He warned that the controversy could affect Thailand’s efforts to become a regional aviation hub and join the OECD by 2028. Thai and Australian investigators are examining the woman’s travel records, statements and information concerning the intended recipient of the suspected drug parcel.

Don't see that it should be a problem.......crimes of this nature don't count if they are committed in Australia.

She will have served only 20% of the maximum sentence after 5 years.

She maybe lucky and get a lot shorter sentence. In the meantime she can become comfortable in detention for 2 and a half months before she appears in court on 14 September 2026

Don't probe too far, Anutin, you might uncover more than you want to find

In that case Anutin, what are go going to do about the extensive corruption in Thailand; especially the corruption aided by Thai government officials?

Of course, no members of government or members of the BJP are involved in corrupt or illegal practices, right?

That's ridiculous for him to suggest that.

In the other news report, the supposed supplier had a social media account (in Thai) 'powder is powder'. That very much reminded me of a certain former cabinet minister who said 'it was just powder' - when caught smuggling drugs to Australia.
