The Tingler when I was a young kid.

When the bathtub started filling with blood and the doors locked by themselves and the deaf and dumb lady tried to scream, but couldn't, but the Tingler was created and came out of her throat! :o

3 scariest: The shining, silence of the lambs, exorcist.

Anthony Hopkins gets my vote as scariest actor as Hannibal.

No, but I did see the very disappointing Young Hannibel film recently out. Was Manhunter good? Brian Cox is a good actor.

Yes very, a bit dated now owing to the concious 'now' '80s styling, but in a few minutes of screen time {less than Hopkins whom I think who was only on for about 15 minutes} Cox creates an entire character, one subtly different from other renditions.

Worth a look in my view.

can any person older than 12 years be scared by a movie?

Alien

the exorcist ,i was 12 when i first saw this one ,dont watch scary movies anymore

the original fly from the 50s .

I remember seeing Stephen King film 'Carrie' as a kid on TV.

The film wasn't frigtening until the very last scene and I thought the film was over.

Next thing this hand flies out of the grave and scared the crap out of me.

I couldn't sleep for ages after.

I tought 'The Others' was pretty scary, very atmospheric.

Horror surprises are fun. But, in terms of chilling to the bone, it's hard to beat the scene in The Shining when we finally read what he had been typing like a madman for all those days.

The Evil Dead and The Serpent and the Rainbow. Both frightened the living s**t out of me.

Oh yes. Although I usually laugh about the sometimes very clumsy 'special effects' of horror movies (like to read, that's much better). But what did me in were two films:

1. 'The Others' with a really good feel for atmosphere

2. 'Clockwork Orange', not a horror movie, but the scene where he has to sit through this film with his eyes taped open is forever burnt in my memory *shudder*

I haven't seen a really scary movie for years.

But I agree with the Lecter ones, Carrie (I saw it when I was 14 and lied at the Cinema to get in). I prefer the more psychological thrillers than the blood and gore and no electricity in the house movies,

All war documentaries. :o

I agree with everybody , but The Ring is also a bit scary .

Which version? The Japanese or the American?

Exorcist was scary and the American version of "The Ring" I thought was pretty scary.

Not sure if scared fits, how about just grossed out?

There has only ever been one film that I couldn't watch "Fear dot com".

The idea of autopsy on a living person......yuck!

...as for the most scariest, that's easy: The original documentary "Faces of Death"

For grossed out, nothing beats these damm "Saw" movies. I've seen them all now and they are truly gross and disgusting.
