Teen Forced Into Nigeria Sex Work Files Complaint

Featured Replies

A 17-year-old Thai girl has filed a criminal complaint against her own mother, grandmother, aunt and uncle for allegedly forcing her into prostitution in Nigeria to pay off a debt. The victim, identified only as ‘Ms A’, was accompanied by activist Ms Chanida Phalamat, known as ‘Ton Or Por Neung’, and officials from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security when she met police at the Central Investigation Bureau on 10 June 2026.

The teenager stated that her relatives pressured and coerced her into travelling abroad for sex work. Despite resisting and fleeing to her boyfriend’s home for safety, she was physically assaulted by the family members and forcibly taken to the airport for an immediate flight to Nigeria.

For two months, the victim endured exploitation in Nigeria while secretly staying in contact with her boyfriend and his aunt. Eventually, she contacted the Thai embassy in Nigeria, whose officials intervened to secure her rescue and safe return. Ms Chanida said the victim’s aunt had previously been tricked into similar work before allegedly collaborating with the mother and other relatives to force the teenager to take her place.

Manager Online reported that investigators from the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (Bureau PCT) are now interviewing the victim, alongside a multi-disciplinary team, to build a case. Legal proceedings will be pursued against all five alleged co-offenders under Thai trafficking laws.

So sex work in a place like Nigeria is more profitable than here

in Thailand ? Weird.

Here you can see again that the family is the most sacred thing for the Thais.

Or should I be wrong?

debts, possibly gambling and they sell their daughter to Africa...disgusting Family ! Show their faces !

This is a rare cut and dry case of human trafficking. Horrible.

I lived and worked in Nigeria in the 1960s, in Lagos and Kano. Unless things have changed since then in the prostitution business this girl would have had plenty of competition.

Just one of the many myths about Thailand.

Maybe, they are looking at alternatives to black Nigerians.

Either way, for a family to do that to their own is disgusting.

That is one country I would never travel to willingly.

At least in Pattaya she can choose her john from may nationalities.

in africa , just nigerians , yuk.

Great idea, yes, let's condemn them and expose them before they've even been charged with anything, never mind having appeared in court or been found guilty.

No it isn't, as horrible as it is if it's true, there's nothing cut and dried about it at all, they haven't even been charged with anything.

What is that supposed to mean, is it some kind of critique of her appearance of which you know nothing or her performance ability?

So no prince's or lottery winners then.

For a 17 year old Thai girl, probably. They probably command a pretty Ding-Bongo-Bongo, or whatever the currency is there.

It means there was a lot of prostitution when he lived there in the 1960s.

Yes it is. It clearly states she was rescued by the Thai authority’s in Nigeria. I don’t think they would of got involved if she was there of her own free will.

None of it is "cut and dried"...yet. And you're assuming she's being truthful.

What about the Thai authorities here in Thailand at the airport, if it was our countries a 17-year-old girl traveling alone to a country like Nigeria, would set alarm bells at check desk/immigration at the airport, under 18 , traveling alone, no letters of reference/sponsor, maybe she did have some form of documentation, but still under 18.

The Thai authorities need to look at their emigration rules.

And you are assuming she’s telling lies then. 🤷🏼

If you're painting all Thai families with this broad brush of sexual and psychological abuse, then you're way, way wrong.

In those days prostitution was big business in Nigeria with women of many different nationalities working there. If that is still the same today this unfortunate young lady would have found herself facing strong competition for customers. Fortunately that is something she will no longer have to face having apparently returned safely to Thailand.

No, I am no assuming anything.. I am saying that no case has been heard and neither side have yet shown their credibility or otherwise. She could be beiing untruthful, as could the others involved in the case, none of whom have been charged with anything at the time of your post.

Don't you understand sarcasm? Then I feel sorry for you.
