Speed humps on fast roads such as this are dangerous and would likely cause even more accidents. Especially in Thailand where there are so many motorcycles. A speed hump can easily cause the rider to loose control.

Pedestrian (zebra) crossings, per se, mean diddly squat; pedestian crossings with lights seem to work.

Absolutely right, especially when it's raining! Hilux doing 100, wet road, speeeeed bump. up in the air ? 👎

Even at crossings; simply wait for a safe gap in the traffic before crossing.

Yesterday a guy was waving an umbrella at me and I was one of two vehicles approaching. He could have simply waited for the second one to pass and then cross and empty road.

Too right. I've seen videos of pick ups spinning out of control when braking in the rain! 2nd most dangerous vehicles on the road following motorcycles IMO. Speed humps are the last thing one needs on fast roads.

My experience is that instead of pushing their way through with a shopping cart they tend to leave their cart in the middle of an aisle blocking the way.

That's when the fun begins.

When they aren't looking I will take and move their cart well away from the area they were blocking. Then stand back at a distance and watch them frantically look for their cart.
