Oh I just can't keep up with the changes , is it still 60 days without a tourist visa from Australia?

Or is back to 30 days ?

Looks like I might be going for 31 days

Visa exempt is still 60 days if you arrive from an eligible country without a visa.

If or when it changes to 30 days, no one knows. The cabinet has passed 2 resolutions already, multiple months apart, both of them with quite different lists of countries that will lose visa exempt. They could put it into action this month, or they could leave it 60 days for the rest of the year. Really impossible to say at this point.

Cant recall where I read it now but someone noted that when they originally raised the VE to 60 days from 30 it took them 5 months to get it into the Gazette !

The indecision like anything the Thais do causes problems for absolutely no reason. If you're going to do it just do it !

I dont want to apply for a SETV for an upcoming trip not because I dont want to pay £30 application fee but because at a later date the fact I've utilised one may come back to bite me if they start totting them up

I need to get through to around 27th August (if its 15 "business days" as someone suggested) to avoid an application but if they suddenly pull the plug they will be inundated with SETV applications for sure

Up to today, still 60 days

I don't follow your logic. All types of entry will get totted up. Your Thai visit history will be available on the IO's screen after they scan your passport on arrival.

In my opinion, in the current scheme of things, a(nother) visa-exempt entry waves a bigger red flag than a SETV.

I have neither excessive VE entries or SETV for that matter

I want to stay via VE for 60 days plus 30 go to Vietnam for few weeks then apply for that SETV

Having 2 SETV in usage in short order raises a bigger red flag in my opinion

(METV is out because they insist on 6 months x £5000 in bank account as part of application but refuse investment accounts with amounts a long way into 6 figures as an alternative......I cant think of anyone who deliberately keeps £5k in a current account for 6 months just to satisfy a visa application for a 3rd world country)

What do I do if they refuse to let me in because I'm 5 days over the 30 day with no visa?

Also I left there in March 2026 after a month there , they may say I travelled too much there and not let me in .now I will have to cancel my airfares !!!!.

Check with your embassy for any changes and updated requirements. The Royal; Thai Embassy in Canberra.

Depends if visa exempt is still 60 days when you enter Thailand.

Flying visa exempt the airline at departure may require proof of onward/return flight.

Next week will still be 60 days visa, exempt entry.

You stated 35 day stay. Seems you have onward/return flight?

The airline at departure may ask to see onward flight within 60 days.

Have Equilivent to 20k baht on you.

Won't be required but is best policy

If you are denied entry you will not be wandering around the airport. You will be placed into detention until you purchase a flight out.

But the odds of visa exempt being 30 days by next week are low enough for it to not be a concern.
