I am trying to get an expired tax refund check re-issued.

I am told I need to bring a "taxpayer card" (among other documents) to the local revenue office.

I don't have a taxpayer card.

the accountant that my employer uses does my taxes so I don't know what this is.

Anyone can clarify for me?

Have you spoken to the account that did your taxes? its the tax id card you got when you registered to file taxes and they assigned a tax id to you.

That sounds right.

I will have to contact the accountant.

Have never had any contact with him, except to grant permission for him to

do my taxes via an email.

My employer basically does the interaction/communication with the accountant.

He apparently handled my registration as a tax payer.

Never got a physical tax id card as far as I can recall.

You get it from your local revenue department office

Usually issued when you get your TIN issued/start employment, its required every-time you want to cash a tax refund cheque (and that is the only time it is ever used from experience)

Either your employer or Tax person should be able to get a new one issued, I assume locals don't know as they get direct account deposits via promptpay not having to use the cheque

Thanks for the great info.

I find the procedure for getting the card "re-issued" at the local revenue office.

Don't know if anyone has experience or opinion but one obvious approach is to go and request the card (which I read online will be issued on the spot) and then apply on the same visit to have the check re-issued .

Both require a visit to the local revenue office if I do both myself.

Or would it be better to ask the accountant to ask for an ID card for me?
