British farms are powering small AI data centers with pig slurry!

One farm in Britain is now using electricity generated from pig slurry to power a small AI data center, allowing the otherwise agricultural facility to house its own decentralized hub powered by a type of renewable energy.

Among the key benefits are that the energy is both generated and consumed on-site, making it highly efficient. The process works by using an anaerobic digester to convert pig slurry into biogas, which is then converted into electricity.

The first site, within the northwest of England, is being operated by Easy Compute through its Green Compute network, which installed and manages computing hardware at farms.

Use to truck air freight between Philly & Harrisburg, PA, which took me through Amish country. They used that type of fertilizer, cow manure vs pig, and great time to take a week or 2 holiday if you lived in the neighborhood.

Don't mind, even like the slight scent of cow or horse manure from a distance, but that stuff, Holy Buddha, that some strong sh!t 😳

Someone local here has more than a few cows, and when the wind changes occassionally I'll get a nice wiff when walking the dog. Nice flash back to when I used to ride the scooter out in the countryside years age.

Not really new tech.... Because petrol was in very short supply during WWII, some enterprising people in the UK turned to pig SH!T (sorry slurry) which was brewed (anaerobically digested) to produce Methane gas, which was then stored in gas bags on top of their cars and used as an alternative fuel.

"One farm"?

How much money do they lose every month? Are their books open for public inspection? No? Guess we'll never know if this is "successful" until they shut this down quietly in a year or two.

This is just like the pizoelectric dance floor generation of electricity.

Good idea. Interesting.

But not a financially viable profitable business plan.

Kinda what we refer to as window dressing* for some rich person. 😊
