Saw this fine looking snake and manged to get a picture without getting eaten :D

I wonder if anyone could put a name to it ( no not bloody Sid) and if its bite is well avoided.

It was up the road a bit near KL actually, I asked locals what it was, they said " snake" :o

That was quick, thanks very much. Must say mine is a bigger bugger than the pics they have. It didnt say about their bite, but I guess it cant be too bad, (not that I would want one) :o

If it is the Elegant Bronzeback then it is classified non / mildly poisonous according to i-net.

There’s another possibility. A newly identified snake.

From http://singaporesnakes.blogspot.com/search...nt%20Bronzeback

This elegant-looking snake that we have been calling Elegant Bronzeback (Dendrelaphis formosus) actually does not have a name until 18 January 2007 (Vogel & Rooijen, 2007). It is now named as Kopstein's Bronzeback (Dendrelaphis kopsteini), after Dr Felix Kopstein (1893-1939). This newly-described species is thus different from Elegant Bronzeback, which is also found in Singapore.

Now that looks more like it. Same size (1 mtr roughly) and it definately showed red as I approached it. Nice to think I have seen something not so common maybe.

good photo, and a beautiful snake too.

Nice work.

Thank you.

I was a bit concerned that I had been working in the area all week and had not given a thought to the wildlife :o

He/she was eating a lizard that was to my eyes way way to big, but down it went no problem.

I waited until it had finished before I got too close, wouldnt like to interupt a meal.
