A 16-year-old Thai-British boy and his mother have filed a complaint at Huay Yai Police Station after a former school friend allegedly lit and threw a firecracker into their home. The incident was reported as occurring at 7.55pm on 13 August 2026. The family handed CCTV footage to police, which they said clearly captured the alleged attack and the suspect fleeing the scene. CCTV footage handed to police The mother, 42-year-old Yothaka, whose surname was withheld, took her son, identified only as B, to report the matter to Police Lieutenant Polsan Chaisalee, deputy inspector for investigations at Huay Yai Police Station. She said the family had been eating inside their home when they heard a loud explosion outside. Her son then ran into the house in panic and asked for help. Picture courtesy of Daily News After checking their security cameras, they allegedly saw a teenage male, described as B's former friend, light an object, a firecracker before throwing it into the property. The device then exploded with a loud bang, and the individual ran away, she said. Yothaka said the boy had previously had disputes with her son. She said they had exchanged insults and bullying remarks online. B told police he had noticed someone standing outside the house but did not know who it was. He then heard the explosion. Dispute said to have started online The teenager said the alleged suspect was a former schoolmate who had repeatedly tried to intimidate him, including through online bullying and provocative comments. He said the former friend had also previously come to his home and shouted abuse outside, despite B saying he had not become involved with him. The latest alleged act, he said, was the throwing of the firecracker into the house. Huay Yai Police Station superintendent Police Colonel Warawut Nitayawan ordered officers to inspect the area. The investigation team has also been instructed to identify and locate the alleged suspect for further legal action.
