Maybe the reason Beirich is indicted is so they they can say the donors were not deceived by the SPLC but they were deceived by Beirich. They may not have much else.

I didn't carefully read the DoJ press release -- I have the 24 page superseding indictment 11 AUG

(I just used embezzlement -- not suggesting that is the actual charge)

Beirich was indicted because she set up fake corporate accounts controlled by herself and her sugar baby, into which she funnelled donor's money that was supposed to be used to fight hate groups. And the FBI obviously has iron clad evidence that she set up the accounts, she controlled the accounts, with her sugar baby, and she directed donor money into those accounts for her personal use, to pay her personal expenses and those of her sugar baby.

So those charges should be a slam dunk, and one would think the federal prosecutors have ample evidence of this, certainly reading the first indictment. Embezzlement and fraud would be harder to prove with evidence, though fraud charges may still be brought in civil cases that can follow if Beirich is found guilty on the federal charges.

NB And they aren't illegal until and if they can prove the COUNT ONE wire fraud.

As regards Beirich herself, she set up accounts in fake corporate names with the specific purpose of using the accounts to fund her personal life, personal expenses, and those of her sugar baby.

This is fraud by any measure, whichever way you turn it. The question would be at what point does it become fraud, presumably when Beirich wired the funds to one of her fake accounts to use them for her personal expenses and those of her sugar baby.

Since the FBI can easily show what those accounts were used for, paying Beirich's personal expenses and those of her sugar baby, I would think it should be fairly easy to show that the monies in those accounts were indeed the proceeds of fraud, which is one of the listed illegal activities.

That the SPLC conspired with Beirich to allow this to happen should be fairly easy to establish as well. She could not have transferred 4 million without others at the SPLC giving her the freedom to do so.

Also, let's not forget the SPLC is not a government entity, it has no power to plant informants in any organizations, and it is well documented that its informants stole documentation from these organizations, an illegal activity in and of itself.

I suspect she will be let off with a slap on the wrist, a small fine at most.

The prosecution not even asking for her to be imprisoned shows she is getting special treatment.

It looks like the SPLC is the main target, not Beirich, for the prosecutors.

Politically tied criminals in the USA rarely get justified punishment. Until that happens nothing is going to change and it will continue.

The previous admin didn't do there job or looked the other way forcing the present admin federal agencies to go investigate fraud especially of the Covid kind.
