How do I wire 220VAC LED downlights?

Featured Replies

So I have at least 50 LED downlights in my house that have burned out. When they were installed 12 years ago, they were all low voltage and used external transformers. However, that type of light no longer seems to be available, and they all have internal transformers. I ordered a sample of one so I could see how it works, and I am confused how I am supposed to install this. It appears to have (at best) a 24 gauge wire stub coming out. How do I connect that to a 220VAC 2sq. mm electrical cable?

I mean, physically I can imagine a way to do it, but that seems extremely dangerous. The circuit breaker on this line is 10A. Is it safe to just wire them straight up to the larger cable? Is there some kind of inline fuse I need to put on each light? How do I handle this safely?

I would wire them direct to the 10A line.
