The key remote on my Yamaha Aerox is getting a bit dodgy (at least I think it's the issue). I have the key remote number/code so how do I go about replacing it? Do I need to go to a Yamaha dealership or could I get it done in a key shop?

I had a similar problem a few years back - it was the battery. Took the remote to the dealer, they replaced it, no problems since.

Does the amber 'smart key' indicator on the dash panel flash for around 20 seconds after switch on? If so, that indicates that the battery is reaching end of life.

My first battery lasted about 3 years. It takes less than 5 minutes to replace the battery. (CR2032)

It's always worth having two of these fobs anyway, change fob battery to see if that works, also bike battery can be a culprit

Not necessary if you learn and remember the secret override routine that you can find in the owners user manual.

I have a copy of the routine on my phone. Just in case!

ok but no need for that if you have a spare fob, my Honda one only 600 baht

Earlier this year I purchased a new Honda Click 160, they only come with 1 key fob.

Sent mityon a message on line last month asking how to get a second, they said to bring in the fob tag and they will sell me a 2nd.... took 30mins cost Bt.700.00.... No book.

Three advantages of the 'secret code' over a spare fob.

1. You've always got it with you, no matter where you are. (You might loss your fob whilst you're out)

2. You can't forget where you put your 'secret code' (it's in your head, or at least on your phone)

3. The battery can't die on the 'secret code'. (just when you REALLY need it)

Just use the fob less unlock code, comes with the fob number + barcode.

Carry a picture of the fob number on your phone (9 digits), unlock sequence takes around 15s from start to dirve away.

1. press and hold the twist switch until 'bleep' (key light on dash comes on)

2. get number ready, then press twist switch once to start number entries, "bleep"

3. press twist switch for first number of times (0 = no press) then wait for "bleep"

4. press twist switch for second number of times, then wait, "bleep"

   repeat until all 9 numbers entered, then "bleep"

   Motorcycle now unlocked, and will remain unlocked until you press and hold the twist switch for "bleep" ........... so don't forget your m/c lock will be disabled until that press and hold.

That's fine until fob No 1 lets you down when you're in town and you've left fob No 2 at home, as you would.

Agree with @BritManToo . Have the emergency start procedure on your phone, just in case. I've never had to use it in the seven years I've had my Yam', but there's always a 1st time - as they say.

This is very useful, but I'd it available for all Honda scooters, like Forza...!

We have the same bar code tag and ID like in the last post, but no emergency start procedure in the Forza 350 user guide...!?
