Does Apple Pay on my iPhone work around Thailand?

Featured Replies

I get virtual "vanilla" no name VISA or Master Card gift cards from the casino. A pain because they are not physical cards with chips or strip I can use at a register. But I can upload them to my Apple wallet and have been able to use them in many places here in the USA. Frustrating because many stores here only use their own "wallets" and APPs, WalMart, for example, and many gas stations will not accept it at the pump but I can go inside and do it at the register. Is Apple Pay and its wallet usable in Thailand?

Should work. I use Google Pay on my phone linked to various cards, it should work anywhere that accepts "TAP" payments, including 7-11. I think the limit for such payments is pretty low mind you, it was THB1500, don't know if that is still current.

Problem is the vendor needs to accept card payments at all. In my street in Bangkok the only places that do are 7-11's, all the other shops/cafes/bars only accept QR payments or cash (and several have signs on the wall to highlight it).

It's funny. My primary phone is a motorola android and I do have a google account and google pay. But my phone is just old enough such that it does NOT support Tap and Pay. It doesn't have that NFC functionality. moto g power, circa 2021 model. I just got a work phone and they use iPhone which of course is not google play, but Apple pay. So eventually I got things working. Thanks
