ONE Championship Fighter Forced Out of Bout After Training-Run Collision

Thai Muay Thai fighter Suriyanlek Por Yenying was struck by a passenger van while training in Pathum Thani just days before a scheduled ONE Championship fight. The 29-year-old was running with training partners in Sam Khok on the morning of August 15 when witnesses said the van clipped him and sent him roughly 20 metres off the road. Doctors found no fractures or open wounds, but Suriyanlek suffered a blow to the head and was transferred to another hospital for additional checks and treatment. The driver told police that the fighter appeared to move into his lane, said he was unable to avoid the collision, apologised and denied being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Suriyanlek later confirmed that his injuries would prevent him from facing Myanmar fighter Saw Min Min on August 21 and promised supporters he would recover and return to competition.
