I know. It was 1992. The bar got extra girls from Bangkok for those days. The number of girls had more than doubled. It wasn't just one ship, but a whole fleet. I think there were 5,000 sailors on leave. They arrived in Patong Beach in shifts. The bars were already open at 11:00. And by noon, the streets were full of drunks. I was staying in a 5-star hotel, beachfront near Bang La Road. They had a restaurant on Beach Road. At the table next to mine were 8-10 soldiers. Then the first one vomited all over the table. The second and third followed right after. The military police were working overtime. Back at the hotel, I wanted to rebook immediately. Unfortunately, all flights were booked for a week. My vacation was completely ruined. It reminded me of 1980. 10,000 English people arrived in El Arenal by bus during my second week of vacation. Many from Liverpool. They had street battles with the Spanish Guardia Civil every night. It was like a war. You couldn't go to pubs, bars, or clubs anymore.

Eric Idle warned us about the dangers of British tourists back in the early 70s.

Just what we need here, a bunch of Americans with mental health issues coming ashore, as if don't have enough of them on this forum.

Five days.....90% will go to Pattaya.....10% to BKK.....my guess.

Might be Phuket they moor at, it's closer to get to en-route to the states than detouring around and up to Pattaya is my guess.

3 US Navy strike group ships set for Thailand visit

Three ships from a US Navy Carrier Strike Group are reportedly scheduled to make a short routine stop in eastern Thailand, the Royal Thai Navy confirmed on Tuesday, August 25.

Separately, USA Today has reported that the USS Abraham Lincoln may visit Thailand in early September while returning to the United States after an extended Middle East deployment lasting more than 250 days. The US Navy has not confirmed that schedule.

Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiyapan, the Thai Navy spokesperson, said the three-ship visit was a normal port call and was not connected to the situation in any particular country.

Rest, recreation and resupply

The purpose of the stop is to give crews rest and recreation and provide logistical support and services under continuing defence cooperation agreements between Thailand and the United States.

The Thai Navy is not releasing the names of the vessels, their anchorage points or detailed itineraries, citing security concerns.

Lincoln visit remains unconfirmed

USA Today said it had seen messages from USS Abraham Lincoln crew members to relatives suggesting the carrier was due to stop in Thailand during its return journey to the US after what the newspaper described as a record-breakingly long mission.

A US Navy spokesperson told the newspaper that, for operational security reasons, the Navy does not discuss future missions or warship movements in advance.

While Thailand's Navy has confirmed a three-ship Carrier Strike Group visit, it remains unclear whether the USS Abraham Lincoln will be involved. Official confirmation of the carrier's reported early-September Thai port call is still pending.

Phuket is not deep enough apparently??....but you might be right.......

Currently, condoms are being purchased at an alarming rate aboard the Lincoln, enjoy your rest and relaxation prior to returning State side............😉 even though your Commander in Chief stated your deployment wasn't long enough..... I would say Sattahip or Chon Buri Naval Bases.....

Ok, Time for the girls to open up the calendar! 5000+ horny soldier arriving! (With mental issues. What can possibly go wrong?)

Hey don't forget the LBs, and don't forget how much tail is on a deployed carrier.

Sattahip: deep water, logistical support, crew liberty in Pattaya.

All above wrong. The carrier groups are now always docked at Laem Chabang. Logistics, transportation and security much easier there.

So, Pattaya her we "come".

Not sure how they could follow thousands of the crew around. Also, they don't wear uniforms anymore during shore leave, isn't that right? Civilian clothes.

There was loads of MP's riding around on the back of motorcycle taxis, it was quite comical to see!!

All ferried by coaches to Pattaya. Enlisted men and women normally stay at Hard Rock, officers at Avani next to Royal Garden Plaza.

There used to be issues in the past that taxis or Thai transport must be used so that lots of money could be made out of transporting them into Pattaya.

After all that time on their boat I reckon a "short time" might mean they'll be back out inside 2 minutes. Including the foreplay.

You know what they say. You're not paying for the deed. You're paying for the peace and quite afterward.

Crikey, I thought being offshore for 28 days was inhumane.

That's what so many people miss when they lambast the military for conditions on the Lincoln. Even under good conditions, it's rough. And some people just don't have the demeanor.

I am sure the coaches were Thai; where else would they be coming from?

The carrier passed by Singapore yesterday.
