Songkhla Tourism Revenue Reaches 32 Billion Baht as Visitor Numbers Rebound

Songkhla generated approximately 32 billion baht in tourism revenue during the first seven months of 2026, with the Tourism Authority of Thailand now forecasting more than 55 billion baht for the full year. The province recorded 948,802 visitor trips from Malaysia and another 28,248 from Singapore between January and July, with immigration figures placing Songkhla ahead of Bangkok as the leading Thai destination for Malaysian travellers. Hotel occupancy across Hat Yai and Songkhla reached around 80% between August 28 and September 6 as Malaysia’s National Day and school holidays encouraged additional cross-border travel. Tourism campaigns and events such as Hat Yai Midnight Songkran have contributed to the recovery, while TAT expects Songkhla to reach 7.5 million visitor trips this year compared with 7.18 million in 2025. Officials say nightlife, massage businesses and Songkhla Old Town are becoming busier again, with upcoming events including Thai Fight Songkhla, the Rimlay Beach Party and the Songkhla Marathon expected to maintain tourism momentum.
